Danny Dillon offers a terrific example of looking beyond
line office boundaries to NOAA as a whole. Navigating innumerable
challenges, he has consistently kept moving to more effectively
connect NOAA offices through electronic messaging and communications.
As E-mail postmaster at the National
Ocean Service, Danny has worked to ease the transition
from widely different E-mail systems to Netscape. His charge
has been to accomplish this without major disruption and breaks
in service. As a contractor leading the NOS conversion to
Netscape, he has excelled as a team player -- supporting other
NOAA line office E-mail administrators with their transitions;
pilot testing NOAA's E-mail directory; providing E-mail administrator
training; and developing shared-use status reports for E-mail
management.
Danny
has stretched his expertise beyond NOS to NMFS, NESDIS, and
NWS. He has also consulted with OMAO on technical issues key
to moving e-mail to and from the NOAA fleet. He advises the
board overseeing NOAA's electronic messaging. And he has taken
the initiative to provide NOAA with technical skills that
have boosted productivity and efficiency and reduced frustrated
Helpdesk calls.
Danny works in NOS's Office of the Assistant Administrator,
Management and Budget Office, Information Management Division.
