The Women in Science forum in Cheyenne, developed to forge closer ties between female scientists and girls and young women, will send a terrific message about dreams and opportunities for creative solutions. Youth from about fourth grade through high school, from Wyoming, western Nebraska and northeastern Colorado, will be energized by a cadre of scientists, including Vickie Nadolski, director of the National Weather Service's western region. Weather service forecaster Jennifer Stark, who also leads the diversity program in the Cheyenne Warning and Forecast Office, is working with a team of young women to spearhead this third annual forum - which was first dreamed up by Cheyenne meteorologist-in-charge Bill Parker. Scott Gudes, NOAA's Acting Administrator, is leveraging the forum with invitations to three young women to visit Washington, D.C. and meet with NOAA scientists. They'll be here in June.
