"Can Do" Approach Underscores
Disabilities Awareness Month at NOAA

Disabilities Awareness Month at NOAA took a novel turn last month. The employee planning committee came up with an innovative plan to have employees with a range of challenges "shadow" NOAA leadership for several hours. The "shadowing" was aimed at building understanding of what it takes to most effectively move through the work day and how every NOAA manager can best help. NOAA employees' "can do" approach steered both the planning and the varied challenges experienced by NOAA's leaders. "It was a day of awareness that gave us greater appreciation for our disabled employees," said Scott Gudes.
