Cited for Homeland Security
NOAA Ship FERREL officers and crew were cited for initiatives on
behalf of homeland security. NOAA's LCDR James Meigs was presented with
a plaque from LCDR Steve Pope, USCG. Last February, the FERREL crew
participated in a transiting sea-to-port exercise with the U.S. Navy
Coastal Warfare Group. FERREL crew monitored and coordinated events
through simulated attempts to penetrate the two Navy craft escorting
their ship. There were no successful boardings! Shown (from left) RADM
