Tampa - On this date 25 years ago, NOAA's P-3 hurricane hunter Kermit made its first flight. To celebrate this milestone, the now mostly retired crew members will reunite at NOAA's Aircraft Operations Center. But Jim Dugranrut will be right at home. An electronics engineer on that initial flight, Jim continues to work at NOAA. He's now the center's deputy director, and the only crew member still at NOAA. Kermit flew into three hurricanes its first time out - Hurricane Bonnie in the eastern Pacific and then Hurricanes Francis and Gloria in the Atlantic.
